About This Activity
EXPLORE is the third of the Paddle UK Personal Performance Awards and supports you with your progression to becoming independent paddler in an inland sheltered water environment. By independent we at Paddle UK do not mean paddling on your own but as part of a group, making good ‘informed’ decisions so that you and your group have a great & safe day out on the water. The course is run over three days and each trip on the water is approximately one month apart to give you time to plan, research, discuss and then go paddle as a group ( you will see 4 dates for this course, the 4th date is a back up in case we have to cancel a previous session due to poor weather etc). 12th July, 16th August, 14th September (12th October) You will research and agree on where you will paddle, meeting points, timings etc on either rivers (ungraded), canals or large lakes and no further than 200 meters from the bank (wind speeds no greater than 12mph). You will use Google Meet, WhatsApp and face to face discussions for planning as a group. I will support you with, *The apps & maps you decide to use. *Locating & understanding additional information regarding the waterway you will be paddling including river levels, identifying possible craft you may encounter, features, portaging and shuttling. *Making informed decisions with what to wear & equipment to carry on you & your board. *Agreeing your back up plan if you need to change location due to high river levels or poor weather. *Informed decisions on when not to get on the water. *Small fun scenarios to practise when a member of your group gets into difficulty. *Developing your technical skills and using the environment to aid with moving your board effectively and effortlessly. *How you as a paddler understand, care and respect the environment you paddle in. *Reflecting on what went well and what you would do differently. Previous trips have included Cambridge, London, Stratford as well as exploring local waterways (Leicestershire & Nottinghamshire). Cancellation Policy
I work hard to deliver all booked sessions. I do however reserve the right to cancel, modify, change delivery sites for any activity or activities on grounds of your safety including (but not exclusively) - • Cancel a course should the numbers fail to reach a viable minimum, or that required by British Canoeing Awarding Body for a course to run. • Cancel or curtail any course due to unsuitable water conditions, forecast or prevailing weather conditions, or due to any other factors beyond my control. I will endeavour to offer suitable alternative course dates, but if unable to do so or the alternative course offered is unacceptable to you, the participant, a full refund will be made for all cancelled sessions, calculated pro rata where applicable. Wotbikini Stand Up Paddleboarding shall have no liability arising from cancellation other than as set out above, and I recommend that you book refundable accommodation/transport options. Cancellations/transfers by you the Participant: if you need to cancel or transfer please contact me immediately, so that I can do my best to help you. Should you cancel; the following scale of charges will apply: Notice given of cancellation: At least 4 weeks’ notice (28 days) - 100% refund less an admin fee of £25.00. Transfer to another course: available Notice given of cancellation: At least 2 Weeks’ notice (14 days) - 20 % refund. No admin fee** Notice given of cancellation: Less than 2 weeks’ notice (14 days) - 0 % refund. No admin fee *** *** Cancellation 14 days or more before the course starts – 80 % of course fee is chargeable. I will, however, endeavour to fill your place, and if successful you will be able to transfer to another course at no cost. *** Cancellation less than 13 days or less before the course starts – 100 % of course fee is chargeable. I will, however, endeavour to fill your place, and if successful you will be able to transfer to another course at no cost. If you wish to move your booking to a different date, I will do my best to accommodate this, subject to existing bookings and being able to fill your place.
